worse beat down i have ever seen...

i forgot to write about this..

a couple weeks ago, on the way back from alex's bar in long beach, with my good friend wiley and her homegirl tanya, we rolled up on what turned out to be the worse beat down i have ever seen in person.

about a block away we could see a couple people fighting in the middle of the street. i was slowing down honestly at first just to get a better view of the fight, but this 300lbs mexican dude with a shaved head, a mean goatee, and a black wife beater, was kickin' the shit out of this other mexican dude that was about 100 pounds lighter than him.

after knocking the guy down, he was dropping anvils on this poor guys dome that were drilling dude's head into the asphalt. we were rolling up on the fight pretty quick and it became apparent that we needed to save this guy's life. by the time we got to the fight, the big dude had already stomped on the guys head with his big ass combat boots. this big guy was a beast...scary as shit and was about to stomp on this dudes head a second time when 1, his equally big girlfriend tries to pull him off and 2, i stop the car right in the middle of the street and jump out of the car.

i kinda gave a "YO!", which along with the girlfriend's help stopped the big guy from stomping this dudes head a second time. thing was, i REALLY didn't want to become this guys next target. I was no more than 15 ft from him, had just jumped out of a car in the middle of the road, yelled at dude, and somehow managed to stay out of the "danger zone." That's how in a zone that big dude was.

when i jumped out of the car, i called 911 right away and snuck in telling them the cross-streets, to hurry the fuck up, and that i can't talk.....all between hiding the phone every time i thought gorilla over there was going to look at me. calling 911 was rolling another pair of dice before i even knew the turn out of the first pair i tossed out there.

this other mexican that was friends with the beaten guy was also there and was now in the beasts site. the girlfriend did manage to get through to her boyfriend and talked him into getting out of there. they made it about half a block when the first cop made it there. since the booty and the beast had their back to us walking away, i was pointing right at them while looking the cop right in his eye. he didn't even turn his head!!!

...luckily, another cop rolled up on the two heavyweights!

the cop that pulled up to us asked the girls and me to sit on the curb. i asked him if he wanted me to move my car, but he said no.

the guy that almost lost his life was bleeding from behind his eyes. I was standing directly over him, looking into his eye to see if i could communicate with him, but he was gone.

fast forward to 7-8 minutes later and there are at LEAST 15 cops standing around me, the girls, and now-conscious beaten guy. they NEVER even asked me what happened!! i started telling a cop the story and he STOPPED listening to me half way thru.

i then asked the group as a whole "does anyone want to hear what happened, cuz we wanna get out of here?" (we had all been drinking and even though i was good to drive, i did not want to get breathalized).

....i tell the story, they don't care, we break out. by the way, there was never an ambulance there despite me telling how bad the beating was and the fact that the guy still couldn't do much but drool on himself.

that's the story. i wouldn't have even remember it really if i didn't tell it earlier today.

the other part of the night worth telling is that alex's bar on the first friday of the month, 60's funk night, is LEGIT. the djs spun all vinyl and the music was good. most of it sounded alike, but it was rare funk. my only other complaint was that the crowd was even less diverse. bummer.

if you don't stand up to stop the wrong thing when it's in front of you how can you expect can anyone to stand up when the wrong thing is happening TO YOU
